The Rawdons Pub and Brew are a thriving independent brewery in the Midlands. Their ales and lagers are naturally brewed using only the purest spring water drawn from an artesian well on the grounds as well as the finest quality hops and malted barley.

Choose from a wide range to everyone’s taste, from pale ale and lager to pilsner and even a keg. Why not go and have a beer or two and or buy some products from the onsite shop. Abingdon Wine Estate:
Located in the picturesque KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, a unique pioneering estate which has positioned itself as a serious single vineyard boutique wine producer in the geographical unit of KZN. The farm was bought in 2000 by owners and winemakers, Ian & Jane Smorthwaite, and the first vines were planted in 2004. Situated at 1140m above sea level, the Estate has 3ha under vine and produces certified single vineyard Estate wines from 100% KZN grapes.

Cathedral Peak Wine:

The climate here has unique characteristics. The air is clean, crisp and fresh to breathe. The sheerness of the mountain allows heat to rise up against the warm cliffs during the day and cooler air to feed down at night. The winter sees snow on the tops that feed the crystal clear mountain streams. In the valley the winter days are mild enough to go for a walk but winter nights are suited to log fires, companionship and a glass of wine.

NELSON MANDELA CAPTURE SITE:

The Nelson Mandela Capture Site at Howick in the Natal Midlands is a must see. This amazing piece of history is the site at which Nelson Mandela was apprehended for his anti-Apartheid activism acts in August 1952.The late president of South Africa was known for his efforts to establish racial, social and political equality. The Apartheid Police had been searching for Nelson Mandela for 17 months, this site marks the location where he was captured. You can visit this dramatic sculpture, which comprises of 50 steel columns and stands almost 30 metres tall, between 09:00 and 16:00 from Monday through to Sunday
